On February 3, 2020, the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA), sent a letter to the President of the Regional Government of Andalusia (Junta de Andalucía) Mr. Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla to request reconsidering the plan to close the Andalusian School of Public Health (Escuela Andaluza de Salud Pública - EASP).

The Andalusian School of Public Health is an institution of enormous prestige in the public health community, having a particular impact at the international level, particularly in Latin America. Closing this school would be a serious loss, because the School was accredited as a collaborating centre of the World Health Organization- a rare recognition that expresses its value, and one that should not be lost.
