1.- Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Outbreak

COVID19WFPHA stands side-by-side with public health workforce and applauds their incredible efforts fighting COVID-19.

Health care providers & public health workers, don’t forget to take care of yourself!

The WFPHA supports World Health Organisation’s (WHO) call that the public health community should play an active role in ensuring that we present facts, and that our actions do not generate fear, misinformation, stigma and discrimination. As the WFPHA, we believe that the experience of COVID-19 should be used to strengthen public health systems in all countries of the world. We believe that this system strengthening should be done in line with the key elements of the Federation’s Global Charter of the Public’s Health. The Charter emphasises disease prevention, health promotion and protection, through enabling governance, education and training, knowledge, information and intelligence, and advocacy for health, equity and social justice.

WFPHA recommends its members to regularly check WHO website for updates.

2.- Now is the Time! Statement on COVID-19 Pandemic

covid19 wfpha statement pic

COVID-19 makes visible all the inequalities and dysfunctions in our health and welfare systems. It shows that health is a common global good and not a commodity.

Now is the time to support multilateralism, to strengthen international organizations and their financing as well as governance, it is time to work on international health regulations again, it is time to explain Universal Health Coverage, it is time to Leave No One Behind, it is time to have health literacy promoted, it is time to see our common overarching interests.

Prof. B. Borisch,

WFPHA Executive Director
